Despite being the entry model, it's got aircon and ABS. I changed the oil, the cooling fluid and the spark plugs today and fitted a newer Becker/Mercedes radio-cassette. I am now sourcing the correct contemporary Becker Grand Prix or Mexico to fit:

I recently acquired a 1993 2L manual 190 with about 170K km on the odo.Generally in a very good condition. I want to use it as a general run-about and taking the longer business trips to nearby towns (for trips to my more rural surroundings i use my 290G)

Any advice on what to look out for or tips etc will be appreciated

The seller is willing to let me check it out in any way I want.

It is tight. Drives extremely well. Handles well and has some zip.

I can get it for $5k or a tad less. They seem to be going for more than that on eBay with with low miles.

I'm not a regular here. Most of my posting is over on the G-wagen board, but I thought someone here might be able to help me with a problem I have. You see, I changed the transmisison in my G-wagen to a 5 speed that has the same shifter pattern as a 16V 190E. I was wondering if anyone here might know of a good source for a used shifter, or at least just the knob. I'm afraid my old beater of a G would flatly reject a fine brand new shifter knob from its slick road carving little brother. But I might be able to slip a used one by him. :^)
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Feel free to PM me if you want. I might not remember to check back here too often.
