How fast have you driven your SLK?................

I'm not a big fan of driving fast on public roads, BUT........ sometimes on an open road, with few on-off ramps we have the need for speed............. ;)
With my old 230K I managed 142 mph when the governor kicked in.
On the track at Virginia International Raceway I got the '32 up to 150 mph indicated.
Both cars were rock solid, but frankly I was shaking, how about you?

Will these tires/wheels fit?

Hello, I am not an SLK owner, but my neighbor is. She is interested in a set of OZ wheels I have that came off our old E65 AMG wagon, and I'm not sure they are a good fit for her. These wheels are 18" with an offset of 35 and are wrapped with Bridgestone Blizzaks size 245 40 18.

I know her SLK has different size wheels front to back, would there be any issue with these all being the same size? Anyone have any feeling if there would be any potential rubbing? Also, does the SLK of that year have any ESP controls that would freak out with the larger wheels?

Thank you all for your time!

-James

Hi, this is my first post in this forum. My wife's 1998 SLK230 is leaking hydraulic fluid from the hard top near rear view mirrow. I know there's a piston like hydraulic actuator in the hard top roof, and a pump in the trunk. Anyone know how to order the part in the roof and how to replace it? Pump maintennace info would also be appreciated.

Thanks.

Street racing is not the safest "sport" this side of the Pearly Gates, but sometimes we get caught up in the moment. Who did you "kill", or who "killed" you? Sometimes the "I got killed" stories are even funnier then the ones where we win the race... :lmao:

As the title suggests,
We have a ML and at above a certain speed the doors automatically lock. :)

Can the same be done on a early pre facelift SLK ? :confuzed:

If so, what is the procedure to activate it ?

I know that the ML system can be de-activated,and activated when ever it suits the owner by following the Glove box handbook.

There seems to be no reference in our SLK Handbook,

Any ideas how to activate the system :)

What tires are you running, size and brand please.........

I run Bridgestone S-03's in 225 front and 255's in back. I've been running 36 psi all around, but it looks like that may be a bit too much in the back. The handling is great, but the wear rate looks like the center is going faster then the edges. In other words overpressure.
Comments?
