I saw that a few peeps had this feature when in Oregon. I would like to install one in my vehicle (with seatbelts). That way I can throw the dogs AND the kids in back ... wife too if necessary.

Any suggestions on where/what to purchase? Any used ones for sale perhaps? Feel free to comment on your experience with this seating feature. Dr. Otiswesty I think I saw this in your Overland G?

My interior is grey leather ... and I always tie my own shoes.

Thanks in advance.

Meat Lips

Torque Spec on Idler Pulley ?

I am going to prophylactically replace the plastic idler pulley on my M113 G500. Does anyone know what the torque spec is for the pulley mounting bolt? My computer that has the WIS on it is dead so I can’t look it up there. Searching the various forums has produced several different potential answers ranging from 10 Nm to 35 Nm, so I'm not sure which is correct.

Thanks!

Has anyone replaced sills (rocker panels) with 75x50x3 RHS?

Our farm truck a 1982 W460 280GE LWB RHD is showing some corrosion on the sills (rocker panels). Because we are at the end of the earth, shipping premade panels from EU, UK or US is expensive. Making them locally is more expensive.

Has anyone replaced the sills with 75x50x3 galvanised RHS (rectangular hollow section) ?

I read it has been done in South Africa to strengthen the body. It looks fairly straightforward, Cut out the existing sills, clean up, solid weld in place. No worry about jack points as the whole sill becomes a jack point.

In our case, the G is driven about 1,000 km/yr, usually at about 50 km/h, moving stone, poles and gardening kit. It's on an island so no motorways (or stoplights for that matter).

Any thoughts?

LHD G500 W463 1999 Classic /Jubilee LWB chassis availability

Hi guys
Haven't posted on here for a while, apologies for that.
My LHD G 500 is in need of a new Chassis here in the UK (ravages of salt). MB Dealer tells me they're no longer available new. Surprises me. Can anyone here confirm that is the case or if so, any sources of good used, anywhere within Europe?. It may have to be parted out otherwise and I really don't want to do that after 18 years ownership.
Any input really appreciated.
Cheers
David P.

Metric Motors sells a G-wagon option 617a

Not sure how long this has been available but it tickled me that Metric Motors will now specifically build a 617a for you in a G-wagon version. Even though MB never offered the motor in a G, AND, maybe even more fun, MM make no mention of supplying G-wagon versions of the OM617 that MB DID put in the G.
Edit- here’s the link. https://mercedesengines.net/300-turbo/
Read 2nd paragraph below the table of engines available.

Installation of the rear view camera.

After searching MBux for a fulltime rear-view camera with recorder, it appears there is none unless a collision occurs.
Anyway, I want one installed and I ordered one: Arifayz standalone Wi-Fi camera with loop recorder.
About $60 with the cable transformer kit. (The kit does away with the cigarette lighter plug. not shown.)
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0B7WND1G2?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title
It requires a full time 12-volt fused connection and a cell phone to view the recorded pics.
Setup on the cellphone was easy enough, but I had to figure a way to get the cable with 12 to 5 vdc converter connected to the 12 volts.
I was at a loss as to where I would route it and to what place on the 2025 G550.
I finally located thru YouTube where the battery is located in the G.
It is under the rear cargo floor.
It was cold today, but I found the sockets and star drive to open the four bolts on the cargo panel floor.
Sure enough, it is very east to find.
This location will make it easy to route the wire over from the rear door window to the rubber trim and down to the floor in the rear, the into the battery area.
Connections should be easy once I get it open.
Got to wait for the warm weather next week as promised.

Replacing alternator on my 1984 w460.

My alternator isns't charging on my 300GD. Went to autozone and got an alternator for a 1984 300SD since this had the same 617A engine that I have, but the new alternator has a three prong spade plug where my old one has two terminals. From reading a bit, it seems like this is somewhat common, and eurotruck importers offers a terminal to plug kit. What I would rather do is go back and get the proper alternator with the two terminals. I can find pictures of these online, but can't seem to find a part number for the correct 55 amp alternator with the two prong setup.

Anyone know a part number for this, or know of a different model that has the correct set up?
