| RE: Trunk star removal I've heard a hair dryer(careful-- painted surface!!  ) and a piece of dental floss can be used to remove body scripts and badging. Get the adhesive hot(or, better yet-- have an assistant wield the gun) and slide the floss behind the badge to remove it. Use adhesive remover to clean up the rest of the mess. Now, I'm not sure this is the way to remove an emblem-- but it's the way scripts are removed. | ||

I dunno if I'd be too worried heating with a hair-dryer it can't get as hot as say the sun does on black paint. I know that method works for the model badges on the LHS of the boot but I think the star may have some kind of clip in the middle. Best bet would be to have a look under the boot lid lining to see if you can see anything then go from there. | |

| RE: Trunk star removal OK, so there are 3 prongs on the emblem. There will likely be 3 'raspberry' clips that the protrusions from the emblem 'clip' into that need to be removed before the emblem will fall-away from the deck-lid. Remove the trim panel inside the luggage compartment, you'll see the attachment points below the rear tail light. Use a plier, pull the plastic fasteners off(MAKE SURE TO PUT NEW ONES ON YOUR SHOPPING LIST!!!) and the emblem ought to fall loose for you. You're really making a mountain out of a mole-hill with this. Take the durn thing apart already!  | ||

When a car is out in the sun, It is evenly and slowly being heated. As where when you take hairdryer/heat gun, you're warming the paint up very fast and unevenly. An probably causing shock to the surface. Causing a very possible risk  Micro-cracking or a crack in the clear coat. Possibly leading towards clear coat failure in the future. Also i would strongly discourage anyone from using a household cleaner (such as WD-40/ goo gone) on the surface of the paint. The residue can probably be safely removed with detailing clay, Meguiar's step one Paint cleaner. Or probably even cleaner wax. You could probably use dental floss to remove the script. But You'd be better off with a soft emblem removal tool.(kind of like this http://www.ketone.com/proddetail.php?prod=AST4505) It's always better to be safe! Than sorry!

I cleaned off the entire rim both on the inside and outside and I washed the wheel wells. Starstruck - 4/18/2008 11:02 PM Totally agree. I draw the line at cleaning the inner surfaces of the wheel, the parts you can't see, facing the brakes. However I'm kinda fanatical about the visible parts.

I always clean the inner surface of my wheels . (I clean the wheel Wells also.) I usually have scuff knuckles afterwards thought. Wish I could find a soft inner wheel brush, That doesn't fall apart after two uses . BTW figured out, how to polish/de-swirl the inner part of the trunk star.
