GL off road

So i took the G back to the dealer, driver window no workie again, drivers rear window switch broken, hood will not open ( again) and sunroof pops and squeeks when it works ( again )

While i was there a truck load or GL's came in.... I must fist say that black looks 1000 times better than the silver. They unloaded a black special adition, black base model, white one loaded ($79K) and another silver one.

Well the black got me thinking, the wife wants something bigger than the path finder, and i dont want all the toys on a mb car ever again.

So this is what i have come up with, any ideas or comits let me know.

For sure must have option list
Black (040) on black GL,
Tow package, $500
Entertainment Package $1450
Sunroof Package $ 1510

total $59,135.00

At the same time i have the voice telling me that i must have the off road package and the 3 zone air is a must for the kids to have heat and air in the back, and maybe Xenon lights, but those tend to attract the local highway police when your clicking along on those dark late night runs.. or so i have been told a few time " yea you stick out with those lights" So it would look like this.

Black 040 on black
Tow package $500
entertainment package $1450
Sunroof package,$1510
Off-Road Package $ 2,200
3-Zone Climate Control $1320

No my question is do you guys think that two lockers and a skid plate is worth the extra $2200. I feel that it is and it also lets you have a low range instead of awd. I for one have not used the low but probably 10 times that i needed in the G, at the same time i will never have a GL in the same place i had a G.

You all have any ideas or comits on what options to skip?

RE: GL off road

If you have to go with the GL, go with something like this:

Black 040 on black
Tow package $500
entertainment package $1450
Sunroof package $1510
Off-Road Package $2200

The trizone climate, IMHO, is a waste of money. Now I've seen pictures and video of the off-road package on the ML and it is (shamefully) fantastic! If the GL is anything like it's younger sibling (yes) it should be equally just as good.

Personally though, I would go with a Jeep Commander. I really don't like this new GL. @ GL450

The bi-xenon's are a must have. Night and day difference (no pun intended) between halogens and bi-xenon's. The stock OEM bulbs MB uses, which I believe is still 4,300k, is not so blue that it will attract the cops.

If you've ever seen the fake ones, you can tell right away that they're retrofit and fake and illegal. They're more purple, deep blue, and are blinding.

You have nothing to worry about.

I think they should offer a "bumpers" kit and replace those plastic bumpers.

RE: GL off road

Interesting options these things have. After seeing the GL450 at the dealership in Birmingham, AL, I asked the wife what option she would get/change that was most important to her. She said get rid of the leather and get velour seats. I thought that this was a trademark of a Mercedes but she hates them. "They're hot in the summer and cold in the winter", she said.

Yes, absolutely. Buying that car without it is idiotic.
