Did anybody locate the signal from the lux-sensor in the windshield to the command, I would like to use it to dim the display, - as I need headlights on at all time as running-lights?

I think you should be able to set the headlight mode to "constant" via the instrument panel which would activate the headlights without activating the parking lights. You could then use the parking light as the signal to dim the display because the will only become active when the light sensor thinks it's "dark".

Nah, the parking-lights will turn on together with the headlights, also when activated via the instrument computer.

Your interior looks very different from most I've seen.

Thanks, looks like I out on a limb then without many friends.

I will have a chat to some of our local audio installers here in Dubai to see if anyone has tried this before, there are a lot of older trucks here blinged into G63's etc so I might be lucky & find some one who is in the know.

I'm sorry but I think you need someone's advice that has the exact truck as you. Good luck colsG55

RE: Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT installed in 2002 G500

I hope to be able to add to this soon. I will be doing the following and documenting it for others if they want to tackle this:

Installing a new Clarion Head Unit with the steering wheel control and Sirrus/XM. Putting in new speakers up front including the center channel. (will document all the steps as well). I am replacing the speakers in the rear doors and on the rear panels. I will also be putting a 10" sub in the same spot as the factory sub under the seat.

To power these, I will be putting in 4 amps along with a DSP all located under the front two seats.

The good thing about this is that this should be the most difficult way to do a stealth system upgrade so with the information to follow, anyone can step it down to whatever they need and still see how to do it.

Just want to give back since you guys on this site have helped me sort some initial issues with my G once I got it about 2 months ago.

Thanks again,

Matt

Re: Pioneer AVIC-Z110BT installed in 2002 G500

Question for all that have swapped out the factory head unit.
I've installed an after market head unit..as mentioned in this thread. I'm curious if anyone who's done the same, is having any difficulty using SDS/DAS and connecting with EIS and all interior functions? I can not connect!
I'm beginning to think the EIS (one of the diagnostic gateways) may have been part of the command unit and CAN connection has been lost by removing the factory head unit.
Any thoughts or same problem?
Cheers

Why don't you use circuit 61 (I believe) from the alternator, to switch a relay coil - input B+ and output directly to the low beams. They will come on, when ever the engine starts, and the alternator is charging......

Hi,

Anyone knows the answer to this question? I'm thinking of updating my 03 G500 to something similar.

Thanks.
