A Benz that rattles – too sad to contemplate.

It's the build qualitity the interior. That being said they don't take care of their cars the ML basicly had to be rebuilt or something because the oil turne to glue in the bottom of the sump, don't know how that happened just what I was told.

I know. It's an old, sad story: it's the automation, the outsourcing, the competition from Japan, the global market, etc, etc...

In the Old Days an MB was fit together just so, like a fine piece of woodwork. Every part was so well connected to another there was no place for a rattle to happen. My 25 y/o 123 is rattle-free. It's a lost art.

I think that the attitude to cars now is that they are throw away. I looked at the interior of one of the new caddis and was suprised how bad the interior was. The really high end cars Rolls etc still have this workmanship but who can afford those?

Indeed... when my new Mercedes was in the shop for something else, I mentioned a squeak, and the SA told me that squeaks & rattles are not covered by the warranty

Re: Phone antenna

WHAT?!?! even Dodge tracked down a couple of my early rattles in the leon!

Now... I just turn up the radio, but I'm not sure how long I can do that... loud music isn't so entertaining as it once was heh heh

Ohh... the aging process. Did I mention my left shoulder pops whenever I move it a certain way?

RE: Phone antenna

Full disclosure: I should add, they fixed it anyway, maybe out of the goodness of their heart.

But it was sobering to hear... the news that is, not the squeak
