First time using Porter & Cable

My ML has about 7 years of swirls and scratches.  I was determined to get rid of them.  I spent a lot time reading posts on Autopia and decided to purchase my products from http://www.exceldetail.com/.  I purchased just what I need to get the job done, including the PC, pads, backing plate, Optimum Polish, and Ultimate Paint Protection for $200.
1) Start with a dirty car
2) Close-up of swirl marks on hood after wash
3) My tools

RE: First time using Porter & Cable

First I washed it using the two bucket method.  Then clayed it.

4) Swirl marks on driver door

5) Polish in action
It took a long time to polish it, but I finally figured it out. I used the orange pad, number 6 on the PC, and pressure to get the swirl and other marks out.
6) Finished polishing the door

7) Finished polishing with one coat of wax

8) Second coat of wax, next day, wow look at that shine

John

Man, it sure does not look like your first time!! Paint looks awesome!!

I think I am going to get me one of those porter cable machines!

I had been using a less expensive random orbital machine with a polish called Novus. It did a decent job, but I think it's time for an upgrade.
