Last week I had my sensor replaces. It may be my imagination, but it sure feels like my transmission kicks down much more quickly and smoothly. Having not done the work myself, I can't say how tightly the cable was adjusted. It should does suck to think I drove the first 114,000 miles with a faulty sensor/kick down switch. Will make the next 100K much nicer though ...

A 10 year later thread reply... this thread was helpful to me. Thanks for the info from all that posted.

I’ve had the kick down limp mode issue since I got my ‘05 G500 8 years ago. Finally got to it recently. Ordered and replaced the throttle position sensor, but that was not the solution. Adjusting the cable under the TPS to have a little slack in the cable fixed the issue
