Interesting 82 300 SD on eBay

She’s far from perfect but seems to be in good shape for the year and miles:

I must admit I like the seller’s notes about using the ‘proper’ color and Euro lights.

The pics may not tell the whole story but I find the interior to be in good condition and a very desirable color for a first gen 126 - in a diesel, none the less.

Agreed, that one does look nice.  And although I'm looking for a late-model 126 (90 or 91 preferably) I do appreciate that he's already done the headlights.  I'd have to do that first thing.

Now about that veggie oil.  They can't still be giving it away can they?  I mean, it's become so popular that I doubt there are still restaurants with endless supplies..

If/when I go that route I'm going to try home brew diesel. Once things settle down here a little I'm going to look into getting the stuff for home brew. The initial outlay is about $500 and with ever rising fuel prices should pay for itself in about two years.

Marsden, I would recommend a 'second' second gen 126; the first gen cars are really in the 'vintage group.' A second second gen 126 would be 89, 90, 91 cars. Not as radical as the 85/86 redo there was a final mini-makeover in 89, the last year for the 107s and with the new 129 SLs coming along the S Class cars got some cool stuff. In those days MB would spread the wealth over all the car lines. For example, the S Class and SL Class cars and some of the 124s got the high performance sound systems that I think still sounds pretty good.
