2008 G500 window motor

My rear passenger window is inoperable. My mechanic said that a scan showed 21 amp draw and that the motor needs replaced. He found a motor with the regulator for $535 (463 730 08 46). He could not find just the motor. Any suggestions? Thanks.

$535 is the list price. It can be had for $399.65 from my dealer in Atlanta.

RE: 2008 G500 window motor

if it is really only the motor (I doubt it) you are welcome to get one of my spares
usually the mechanism of the lifter fails, and it can be had separately without the motor (much cheaper)

RE: 2008 G500 window motor

It would be very unusual for a window lift motor to go bad, the regulator, not so unusual. 21 amp draw may not be unusual if the motor is fighting against a failed window regulator. If you are doing the repair yourself, open up the door panel and have a look see. Using several post on this forum as a guide, the failure should be readily apparent. Good Luck.

Re: 2008 G500 window motor

The motor of the W463 windows is identical to various different models of Benz. On my '02 G500, my rear passenger motor just went, I called a junkyard and got one off a W203 for $49.

If you look at the motor from your car, it has two part numbers; one corresponds to the entire window regulator assembly including the motor, the second one is a shared part number amongst numerous Benz models and there are also superseding part numbers which have common issues resolved.

Problem solved; don't dish out a ton of money for the stupid motors.

Re: 2008 G500 window motor

I know that the OP has already remedied the issue; but for anyone else out there trying to fix their window motors, the least expensive way is to buy a used W203 window regulator from the 2002-2007 C-class and install it instead. They run around $50-70; and despite their smaller size, they are capable of handling the weight of the W463 windows.

I have personally installed it after spending quite a bit of time researching part numbers and such.

SO, IT IS POSSIBLE TO USE W203 WINDOW MOTORS!

*my contribution to the wealth of information found here. I am in the midst of putting together all the interchangeable parts for W463 from other Mercedes variants.

RE: 2008 G500 window motor

I read this a bit late - and already have replacement part - BUT when you say the lifter mechanism is available separately, can you tell me from where? I sense I will be doing this again in the future.

The plastic wheel on the 'pulley' seems to be what has failed in my previous two failures. Does anyone make an 'uprated' version (with better pulleys)?

I see someone has found a new redesigned MB regulator for the FRONT, but it takes some work (drilling two holes) to make it fit.
