G Treffen Southwest?

Would anyone be interested in a G Treffen in the Southwest for a day or two say in Feb/March? Perfect time to play in the desert before it gets too hot. Maybe Anza Borrego or Ocotillo Wells SRVA? Some place in AZ would be fine, too. Thoughts?

Re: G Treffen Southwest?

This sounds like fun. I'm not sure about my schedule yet. We were just up in Sedona 2 months ago. Since it was our first time off-roading we went on a local trail with Barlow adventure. We then drove on our own on schnebly and a little on diamond back gulch. It was a blast.

Re: G Treffen Southwest?

Sounds like a possibility for me. I have 2/14 through 2/23 to play with. My general plan is Las Vegas to Yuma and back focusing on Mohave Road, Anza Borrego, possibly south of the border?

I need to fit in some Death Valley time in March before it gets to hot.

RE: G Treffen Southwest?

Cool. I have done some Sedona, too--Broken Arrow, Soldier's Pass, and Schnebly. Those trails are a lot of fun, beautiful, and convenient. Death Valley--I've spent some time there, too: Eureka Dunes, Steel Pass, Dedeckera Canyon, Saline Valley, Lippencott Road, Teakettle Junction, Racetrack Playa, Ubehebe Crater, Scotty's Castle, Titus Canyon--loved 'em all. Did DV in May, 3 years ago. That was HOT. Upside was we had campsites (other than the Saline Warm Springs) to ourselves.

DV would be a little too far for me this time around, but I could do Anza Borrego or Ocotillo Wells SRVA or anything in AZ. I know some fun day excursions in the Tucson, area. There are some others closer to Phoenix that look interesting. Let me know!

Re: G Treffen Southwest?

I was just up in Sedona last weekend with my Gcabrio but I put some fancy wheels on it so no 4x4ing for me. I ended up jumping in my buddies stock Jeep TJ rubicon and he rubbed on lots of the trails. I don't think my side steps would have made it out in one piece!

RE: G Treffen Southwest?

I could do the same, 15th and 16th. I'm back in the G on The 13th in Vegas, and planning the Eastern third of the MR on my way to Phenix to pick up the family on the 14th, then spending some time in and around Yuma for the rest of the week. Ocotillo Wells MVRA isn't that far.

RE: G Treffen Southwest?

Hi AirCruiser and SoCal G. I haven't checked-in in a while. I won't be able to make 15 - 16 FEB.

However, I will be exploring an area east of Phoenix in early April called Bulldog Canyon OHV Area in early April. I welcome you or any other P3 members to meet me there. Here is a link for more information: http://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/tonto/null/recarea/?recid=35555&acti...

Let me know if you are interested. Thank you.

RE: G Treffen Southwest?

Here is a pic of a trip to Ocotillo Wells from a March 2013 trip with my friend, his rig, and my G. Still had regular street tires on then, with the chrome wheels that nobody wants to buy from me!

RE: G Treffen Southwest?

Diablo Drop Off at Anza Borrego. A lot of fun to go up and down. Would have been more fun on the way up if my lockers had kicked in properly.

RE: G Treffen Southwest?

Nice little trail in Anza Borrego shortly after going down the Diablo Drop Off. Got hung up on my running boards at one point.
