Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

The treffen in May was too much fun...

Namsag and I have been talking about doing another run on the Skyway trail in Talladega this fall. We are thinking the weekend of Nov 7. The fall foliage should be great as it was when some us ran the trail in Nov 2013.

Tentatively, the plan is to ride the trail on saturday the 7th, finish up at our usual spot near I20, and people can either go their separate ways or we could camp another night.

What about Uwharrie National Forest, or the Appalachians?

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

Well Uwharrie would certainly be a great place in the future. I enjoyed our drive in May so much I wanted to do it again this fall so this trip was conceived as a quick close-to-home outing to get a friend of mine out on his first off-road ride. I don't have any experience to speak of myself so we asked WEBIII to come along because he's a good guy and we would have someone with more experience than us. Then we decided to see if we could get some of the guys on this forum to come, although I may or may not be in the G! It will be a lot of fun. Anyway, that's how it got started, would love to see some of the guys from here come along, the more the merrier! Would certainly love to drive Uwharrie at some point.

I should have added that WEBIII graciously agreed on the date with me because it's about the only time I could get away to make the drive!

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

I'd love to travel to Uwharrie, but it would require a good deal more planning for me to make a trip like that. Maybe start another thread to see if there's any interest?

I'm not sure if I'll still have my 460 by November, so I might be treading extra lightly in the wife's G500.

RE: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

I'd love to go too, but have ka-nee surgery scheduled for Oct 19; and I'm sure the new ka-nee won't be ready for driving the G by Nov 7.

As to doing the North Georgia trails in the future, I think that Mark/Inkblotz probably has as much experience up there as anyone; so he might be the obvious leader.

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

Well, I now have a conflict with Nov 7. I could go the 14th but I understand if others would rather go on the 7th.

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

Well dern I am sorry to hear it. As I told Winston via PM my friend here in Tupelo has dropped recently. I will check with my wife to see if she has anything but as it turns out I could probably go on the 14th as well. I would give up a weekend of deer hunting but we would be able to get there earlier on Friday anyhow. Maybe my friend will be able to make that weekend.

How about a show of hands from the guys who have previously expressed interest:
A, I can only go on the 7th
B, I can go on the 14th,
C, I can go either time, or
D, I am no longer interested?

I am looking forward to this!

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

I greatly appreciate the understanding. One definite thing I've learned by having a small child is that you are bound by their schedule and not your own...

Put me down for option B

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

I can make the 7th work, the 14th would require some moving some stuff around. (by stuff I mean kids) (and by move around, I mean acquire some babysitting from my wife's parents) So that is a hand up for the 7th, and a hand mostly kinda up for the 14th.
