Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

Well dern I am sorry to hear it. As I told Winston via PM my friend here in Tupelo has dropped recently. I will check with my wife to see if she has anything but as it turns out I could probably go on the 14th as well. I would give up a weekend of deer hunting but we would be able to get there earlier on Friday anyhow. Maybe my friend will be able to make that weekend.

How about a show of hands from the guys who have previously expressed interest:
A, I can only go on the 7th
B, I can go on the 14th,
C, I can go either time, or
D, I am no longer interested?

I am looking forward to this!

namsag

I'm on vacation the first week of November, A, is a hand straight up.

I currently finish work in ATL on the 14th at 5 Pm, I can possibly shift things around. B is a hand halfway up.

Possibly C, is the best answer. No one told me there was going to be a test...

Namsag, and WEBIII are in for the 14th. I can be in on the 14th. Should we make it the 14th then. I am certainly cool with that.

Tech plays on the Thursday night that week and UGA is @ AU on Saturday.

Well the 14th should work for me now as today I broke my fibula when washing the G. Did I mention I'm clumsy?

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

I fell off the running board, left hand fingers clutching the rain gutter, washing the roof. My hand slipped and fell backwards twisting my right ankle. Swearing profusely as I rolled brown the hill next to my drive, broke the tip off of the fibula. Estimating 6 weeks in a stylish boot and crutches.

It won't keep me from a treffen. My 15 year daughter will be my driver if needed.

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

Wow, good reason to remove the running boards. So do you really need 2 good legs to fly a commercial aircraft?

Can't wait for the 14th.

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

This has to be one of the dumbest ways to break a leg, wish I had a better story. Driving around like this is doable using both feet, but the FAA holds pilots to a much higher standard most likely doing a few weeks of PT after the leg is completely healed before release to work. My lost wages will equal several lifetimes of paid car washes.

The running boards are just too handy to access the rtt and other crap on the rack. They were a slight hinderance on builder strewn trails out west, mine took a little beating in the last year but held up just fine. I would ditch them for sliders if I had a different style tent, like Karl's, but then I would just fall off of his ladder.

The kids and I are heading up to the mountains this weekend, apple picking, good German food, etc. Should we scout out any trails? We could do a giant loop, Syline S-N, up to BlueRidge, east to Clayton mostly on FS roads.

Is this Octoberfest weekend in Helen? Great time of the year to be in North GA.

How long do you think that loop would take?

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

I ended up in Helen, Oktoberfest was great, with the exception of too much beer. The fall foliage was in full swing but didn't get much scouting done.

Well, do we still have interest in the 14th? Can we get a head count of those interested in a drive up the Skyway and maybe camp out that night?

Re: Proposed: Fall 2015 Southeast Treffen

It looks like it will be a soupy mess. It rained there all weekend and there is a good chance for more rain on Thursday this week. It's not looking good.

Well I hate to say it but let's try to maybe regroup in the spring. Let's call it now so we can maybe make other (inside) plans for the weekend.
