I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted. Will tint protect my interior from fading, splitting, etc?

I'm sure there are different quality tints. Are there any to request? Any to stay away from?

Thanks for any advice.

Re: Tint

Try to get it done by a reputable shop. I can't tell you how many times I've heard stories about the tint bubbling and peeling.

I think it will protect the interior, and at the same time, you'll be much cooler.

Do you have any idea what % tint you going to put?

Thanks, Animals.

I won't go to a dodgy shop, for sure.

I'm not sure about %. I think there are some laws here about how dark you can go on the front windows. I'm pretty sure I can get as dark as I want on the back.

RE: Tint

I use Diamond Kote 35%.  Make sure you get the right colored tint that matches your car too. There are bronze tints and blueish tints. Ask if the tint you choose turns purple too in time (you don't want that )

Um...this could be a stupid question, but my car is black--aren't there like, you know, blackish tints?

Yes there are. But you have AMG that uses blue-ish tints, the earlier Toyota's that used brown-ish tints.

So he was just making sure that you got the right color. In your case, black.

Actually, that's exactly the look I don't want. I just want to keep my interior crack and fade free, homie.

RE: Tint

In all seriousness, I hate when the rear-side windows are much darker than the front-side windows.

So me anyway, as a maximum, I'd determine how dark the front-side windows may be legally, and make them all that %... 'jes my 2¢

Tinting will also help keep the interior of the car cool. Years ago I had another make car with tinting – nothing special or weird just a good basic tint. The AC in the car was rather weak but with the tint the car always kept cool.

RE: Tint

I dont know...cops really HATE limo tint. They get kinda skitterish when they can't see your hands, or how many peeps you got in your back seat. We have a law up our way that requires you to turn on your interior lights when pulled over at night.

Yeah, and I don't really want to draw attention to myself since there are illegal activities going on in my car from time to time....*

You can run with that one, Marsden.
