2000 g500 central locking issue need help

My 2000 g500 will lock with the IR remote but won’t unlock with the remote. If you pull up the lock or open with then handle all the doors will unlock. The IR remote will cause the green light in the mirror to flash. The outside turn signals flash too. But the locks won’t unlock. From the SDS 38 pin connector we get a code 20 fault which is “no ground at actuator S47 which is the left front door actuator. But all grounds st actuator are good. Any idea what to do? We tried to reprogram the key with no luck. Any ideas? My mechanic is stumped. The drive authorization module needed to be replaced bc it was damaged while trying to remove ignition lock. There was an electrical short caused somehow when the ignition switch came apart. Now after reinstalling and connecting everything the locks won’t unlock. Car starts fine. Any help?

Kiekert Relay. Search for it as there are a lot of threads on the Kiekert relay going bad.

So you’d just replace? Anyway to fix or troubleshoot?

Re: 2000 g500 central locking issue need help

Thx. I really did read that thread. All of them that mention kleikert or Central locking. My problem is weird bc it will work to lock the doors but not unlock.

Did you have a chance to test the drivers door actuator, verifying that the motor runs in both directions yet?

Re: 2000 g500 central locking issue need help

The Kiekert relay can do weird things when the solder joints go bad. From my research, it is the culprit most of the time when locking doesn't work. Generally diagnosis is a pretty simple thing to do.

Cheers,
Gerry

Re: 2000 g500 central locking issue need help

The Kriket relay is one of a handful of spares to have on hand...it is not a matter of IF it will fail, just a matter of WHEN. I think WHEN has happened.

...other spares: MAF, K40 (2001 and earlier 463), CPS, TPS. The CPS is the only tricky one tool wise.

RE: 2000 g500 central locking issue need help

I re-soldered my old one years ago, then later replaced it. No issues since.
