Adding Bluetooth to G500

Anyone able to add Bluetooth to the stock G500 Stereo? I have a 2003 G500 and would prefer to keep stock stereo. I don't care about phone just want to be able to play Iphone through stereo. I used the Fusion "MS-BT100 Bluetooth Dongle" number of times in boat stereos and worked like a charm but not sure about G. Anyone have advice?

RE: Adding Bluetooth to G500

It's been a long time ago, but I added Sirius/XM to the factory radio in my 2000 G500. It was plug and play, and it was done with an adapter that plugged directly into the back of the head unit. However, it's so long ago that I don't remember where I obtained the kit.

If it's just music you want, there was a company that did a mod to the factory head adding a female headphone jack audio-in (you ship your stereo to them). I did the mod, and it worked fine. Not sure they're still in business, but if they are, you could get a bluetooth dongle that connects to the headphone jack (cheap on Amazon - ~$10?) and go that route, but again, not sure that mod company is still in business. If you search this forum, you should be able to find the stereo modding company.

RE: Adding Bluetooth to G500

Did some quick googling, and while I'm pretty sure this wasn't the place I used (it's been ~8 yrs?), their descriptions/services sound familiar:

Also, I did a quick eBay search and came up with these dongles that take the place of your CD changer input... under $20, might be worth a shot:

Re: Adding Bluetooth to G500

This is something I need to do as well. The established method to successfully get an auxiliary device added is via the terminals for aux-in located on the back of the Comand unit.

Here is the service bulletin write up http://www.pointedthree.com/disc/forums/get-attachment.asp?attachme...

The main complaints I read mentioned that you have to turn the volume up a lot compared to the other Comand unit sources.

I bought a chinese Bluetooth dongle from Amazon and plan to patch it into the connection for the aux-in. We’ll see if it actually works. I’m waiting on the terminal ends (part no in the service bulletin) to arrive.

I've had this same setup for a few years now and it's worked great so far.

Meaning that you patched-in the Bluetooth dongle, or that you are using the aux-in wire and jack?

I purchased the aux-in wire from fourbyfourclub, had that installed, and use a Bluetooth dongle to connect to the aux-in. Not as clean as a patched-in Bluetooth solution but it works.
