replaced compressor but it wont turn on

I replaced the compressor on my 2003 g500. The old one would engage but the new one will not. Hard wire tested and the compressor works. Do I have to do something with the star system to make it engage again? Kind of like the TC module?

RE: replaced compressor but it wont turn on

Is your R134a charged to the correct amount? There is a pressure switch in the system that will prevent the compressor from engaging if the pressure is too low or too high.

Re: replaced compressor but it wont turn on

Hi Dutch, Where would I find the proper pressure for a 2000 G500 Europa?

The only way that has ever worked for mew is to pull a hard vacuum for 30 minutes or so to clean out the old R-134a and any moisture. Then add exactly the amount of R-134a that is shown on the label. On my 2000 G500, that is 2.277 lbs. If you lost any oil in the process, I would guestimate how much was lost; and add it back with the refrigerant.

Doing it that way has always worked the best for me when servicing my A/C.
