Mysterious tick tick tick

So, Thursday I for some reason left the engine running to do something.
I had finished a run for an errand.
I exited the G and passed by the front to do what ever I was doing.
Now my hearing is very bad and I did not have my hearing aid in.
As I moved to the front of the G I heard a loud (Or loud enough my deaf ears could hear it) ticking coming from under the hood.
I was thinking maybe a valve ticking.
I was worried and slept lightly until Friday morning.
Let me tell you, making engine repairs to a 2016 would be nearly impossible as it is a nightmare under the hood.
My 2016 G is still under warranty until August, so I hustle and take it to the dealer.
I am on good terms and the shop manager met me at the door.
I explained my suspicion to him.
He explained the the noise was not new to him as he has many complaints about it.
He said it was injector noise and most all late models suffered from it.
Well, I accepted his explanation and let it slide, after all he knows better than I.
I have for some time been thinking that I made a grave mistake upgrading and should have kept my 2002.
After all, I cannot out live the 2016 nor work on it at my age.

I have two Porsche's that have normal loud injector noise. The 2000 G500 not so much. I have gone so far as to take an automotive stethoscope to confirm my techs' evaluation. They are correct. To sleep better, pickup a stethoscope and touch the probe to each injector. The Porsche's are direct cylinder injection but I have noticed the late models with port injection have the noise too. I suspect it is because it is not longer just one burst. It appears that there are multiple cycles of the injector opening and closing per one air intake cycle.
