Wheel sensor cable connector question

Hey Guys,
I am needing a description of how this connector comes apart.
It is the white connector at the end of the wheel speed sensor cable, coming up the side engine bulkhead.
It is held on the bulkhead by a clip.
It looks to have some type of locking mechanism. So I don't want to break it.
Thanks!

RE: Wheel sensor cable connector question

Just pull apart, if I recall correctly.  While you are at it, make sure the wire is routed correctly.  I had mine drag on the rim causing it to short to the rim and all kinds of e-hassles.

Re: Wheel sensor cable connector question

Alan, thank you for your answer.
The problem connector is on forum member gbenzer's 2007 G.
I tried pulling it apart with a lot of force but could not get it to budge.
We were trouble shooting a intermittent signal from the left front wheel speed sensor.
Not sure why the connector is stuck but it seems to be where the signal is being weak/lost.

RE: Wheel sensor cable connector question

Thanks for everyone's input on this 6+ year problem (ABS light on). The head mechanic at my local dealership couldn't get it apart either. Now it is broken, very loose, and still can't get it apart. My next thing to do is to trace the wire toward the control module and replace the sensor cable, the broken connector and the cable to the next connector. Vehicross99 has been very helpful in tracking down the problem. Hopefully I can get to dealership and find out where the cable goes from that connector. Thanks.

RE: Wheel sensor cable connector question

Well to answer the original question the connector pulls straight apart. It took pliers and some good tugs but since the connector already seemed bad... what to heck I just pulled away and it finally came apart. I gave it a slight twist to help things along. The connector is keyed to align the 2 pins. I cleaned with electrical cleaner spray and then a good dielectric spray. The connector was dirty with grease on the inside but I didn't see any corrosion. I put it back together and so far the ABS light has stayed off and the G is fun to drive again. I'll keep y'all posted if this finally fixed the issue.
