On my friends Puch 280GE, the reverse gear was slipping so bad, it only would work in idle to slowly drive the G-wagen backwards. As soon you added a bit throttle, the reverse gear would slip, and the vehicle would not move at all. We found the hidden adjustment screw for the reverse gear brake band, on the transmission's right side. You need to remove a couple pieces to see and to get to this adjustment screw (see photos - not mine) Unlock the 17mm jam nut, and turn in the threaded screw - only half a turn each time. Then check if the reverse gear will work now.
