Why are you thinking MAF sensor? by the way - car runs for about a minute and then shuts down. Starts again without a problem. But won't accept gas. On one of the facebook G forums another 2002 owner reports the same behavior.

I guess there are stepper motors in the TB that can go bad. My symptoms were a low idle that would sometimes also stall with accelerator use. I think a MB Star diagnostic system interrogation will provide the most information.

Present: Germany Vehicle(s): 2000 g500 Posts: 1887 | RE: G500 no gas pedal response I had something like this on my Lotus Elise. When cold it would start and run fine. After it had warmed up, it would technically start... but it would idle very badly (bouncing) and then die if I tried to give it any throttle. It was a sticky throttle body... it was surprisingly difficult for the shop to diagnose the throttle body as the problem. I had my Throttle Position Sensor go slowly bad on my G500, but that only manifested itself on occasionally responding VERY lazily to throttle input... in particular when suddenly/quickly pressing the gas pedal. Maybe it also had some challenges starting when hot, but that was a LONG time ago so I don't remember exactly. Edited by ewalberg 9/28/2020 5:06 PM

There is no direct connection to the actual throttle. The throttle body is a separate device that controls the air intake for the motor. It is directly controlled and sensed by the ECU. it could easily be that the throttle is stuck, or has a limited range. I've never had one in hand, but I'd suggest trying to clean it and free up the mechanism.

I believe the 2002 does have one: https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/mercedes-benz,2002,g500,5.0l+v8,... Accelerator Position Sensor too. http://www.mercedesmedic.com/mercedes-throttle-possition-sensor-pro... About 1/2 way down is the APS (the part you replaced) reset procedure. Might give it a try. If that does not resolve it, I would be inclined to measure the voltages and resistances called for in a service manual for those two (TBS and APS) before going much further. hardtop New user Date registered: Apr 2020 Location: Utah, USA Vehicle(s): Posts: 4 | Re: G500 no gas pedal response Did you get it fixed? The MAF provides data that the computer uses for air/fuel mixture and not opening/closing the throttle. Investigate the throttle motor on the throttle body to see if it is moving and if the butterfly is opening when the pedal is pressed.
