Sunroof preventative maintenance

Guys,

I open my sunroof maybe once a year sometimes less. Is there any preventative maintenance I should perform next time I open it? I assume check the drains and apply lubricant. As for oiling where should lubricant be applied?

Thanks

RE: Sunroof preventative maintenance

Use the correct MB lube, and it is applied inside the chrome channels were the sliders move on. Not a bad idea to clean the channels also. In a warm climate like HI, I can not imagine you ever having a problem with the lube getting dried up and hard.

I use a long zip tie to gently snake the drains after pouring some warm water down to push out any debris. Also check the rubber valves at the bottom of the chassis and the sunroof seal itself.

RE: Sunroof preventative maintenance

Guys,

Thank you for replies. I had the seal replaced a couple years ago when I had some rust repair done. I will try the zip tie/weed eater cord to make sure the drains are clear as I believe clogged drains led to the rust problem previously.

Re: Sunroof preventative maintenance

I have used Variable nose air nozzles with air compressor set at 90 psi. Does the job quite nicely.
