Purge Valve p/n

Hey guys,

My 2000 G500 is throwing the PO442 code. I'm trying to change out the purge valve, and ordered part number 000-470-35-93 from Pelican, but just received a message from them that this part is no longer available, and has been replaced with this item: 000-470-88-93-M22 Regeneration Valve - Fuel Vapor Recovery.

Can anyone confirm that this newer part number will work on the Europa trucks?

Thanks!

That 000-470-35-93 comes up on the Daimler Parts list as the current purge valve for the WDB463.241.

The Daimler Parts list cannot find the supposed replacement part that Pelican gave you.

AutohausAZ.com has it here:

https://www.autohausaz.com/pn/0004705593

Genuine MB Parts (a franchised MBUSA dealer) has it here with the number that Pelican Parts gave you, and for less money delivered with free shipping to your closest participating dealer. Plug your zip code into the link at the top of the page,

https://mbparts.mbusa.com/oem-parts/mercedes-benz-vapor-canister-pur...

The choice is yours to make.

Re: Purge Valve p/n

Make sure you check the Y hose behind the large charcoal canister near the fuel filler (I bet it's cracked), replace your gas cap, check the Y hose behind the MAF, and also replace the breather hoses and connector that go into the throttle body. This is where the engine generates vacuum for the evap system.

If you need a list of the non-Gwagen parts that were used in that back corner for Federalization, let me know.

I think you are the person who originally gave me this list.

"CONTI" 460 476 3626 DBL 6256.30.23 elbow, 1"x3" equal dia.
1404761526 90 deg. elbow, 0.75"x0.75 " equal dia
463 476 27 26 110 deg. elbow 0.75"x3" unequal dia
1200780381 90 deg. elbow 1x1 unequal dia.
1200780145 3-way bent "Y" hose, equal dia
N916030 000527 fuel hose , 1 foot
A1294701259 charcoal filter ( qty = 0 , installed)

Here's some additional in formation. Can't remember who sent it.

The code you have (p0446) has popped up on my G500 before, every time I cleared this code It came right back. I narrowed the offending part to A1635420518, this "fuel filler pressure sensor" must have been installed by Wallace Labs as part of EUROPA's federalization procedures because you wont find it in the early G500 (1999-2000) EPC. I replaced this thing with a new one and have had no P0446 codes after 5 months. This little bugger lives deep behind the fuel filler neck at the very top rear corner of the passenger rear wheel well, you must remove the plastic inner fender liner and the large EVAP canister to get to it.

This is fantastic Dutch, thank you. I'd also like to point out that Marc posted a diagram of the Europa evap system with part numbers for the large items over on ClubG... Super helpful. I can email it to anyone as I'm not sure I can attach a pic here.

Does anyone have part numbers for the evap hoses and connectors under the hood? There's a Y hose there, but there's also a couple different 90 degree hoses and two three way plastic connectors on either side of the purge valve... Not sure if those are Europa specific or not.

Re: Purge Valve p/n

I have a lot of cool, necessary and general minutia. Challenge I face is, where did I store it. Thanks!!!

I think that list may have originated from the owner in the Florida Keys who joined us for the Treffen down there.

Re: Purge Valve p/n

Here you go. Marc posted the diagram in post #5. I saved and printed it! I've been helping Matt Andrews with his small evap leak troubleshooting behind the scenes. The STAR clone and smoke tester are really necessary here if you fix the obvious issues like the broken Y hose by the filler neck. Matt has a couple more topics in the Technical section that everyone should take a look at.

It seems that these trucks that spend time in a very dry environment have more small evap leak issues- as all the rubber hoses and fittings have dried out.

Re: Purge Valve p/n

When I was sorting through a evap leak in the right rear wheel well area, replacing a good number of the rubber bits, those rubber bits appeared to be geared more for vacuum, not high concentrations of gasoline fumes.

I have future plans (in a large pile with others) to update those rubber bits with something more suitable,
