Interesting C126 SEC

Well, I was looking around at some W126 and C126 pictures, and came across this one. It has some smoked corners, and some special rims. What do you guys think of it?

Nice wheels.  Where are they from I wonder?

They look like '02 Crown Victoria wheels

RE: Interesting C126 SEC

Is there a difference between a C126 and a SEC or is C126 just what we call W126 coupes?

nope, a C126 is just a W126 Coupe. Same think with C140 and W140.

I like it - considering some of the more imaginative rims I've seen those work well. Dark amber turn indicators would be best, never cared for the smoked.

Actually the 'C' comes after the 126:

The 'big butt' CV and its running mate the Mercury GM.

I owned one of those many years ago in another life. Like a chartered accountant they are tedious, boring, and dull. The ergonomics were dreadful and the interior was very cheap and full of creaking plastic. I had it for about 11 months.

As for the rims they seem like a generic pattern found on many cars including BMWs.

yea, it is certainly very custom and it is certainly nice because of that. I liked the smoked front corners.

:wah:  You're so mean JD.  Although I admit the rear overhang is a tad excessive ;

hahah, you've certainly got a very good point. Although, I'd beg to differ on certain other cars, like the W123, W140, and W461-W463 G Class.

Well, you might as well add the 201, 124, 107, and 129... and most other MBs but I won't include the M things.

Very true. But anything 2000 up is not even close to the 126's build quality.

Re: Interesting C126 SEC

The wheels are definitely BBS. They were a pretty common option on the coupes. A lot have the centers painted to match the car, such as black centers on a black car. I've never particularly cared for the BBS wheels because they are a PITA to clean. I had a BMW back in the 80's with factory BBS wheels. Got tired of the cleaning hassle and went to OZ 5-spoke rims.

My 560 SEC has the three piece AMG wheels which are much easier to maintain.

Maybe to you guys they suck, but to me a Crown Vic/Grand Marquis could be a great novelty to own, even a Caprice or other such trite, I...ahem, I mean my son could pretend he was in...well...any one of 2 million cop programmes we've all grown up on or maybe a NY cabby, maybe someone would slap the hood and say "hey I'm walkin' here!" then I could do my line "you talkin' to me?!"

I know they are junk (first-hand experience) most of Ford/GM's lower-end stuff is though, doesn't matter what country you're in
