My 1978 300D has a problem with the glow plugs heating the engine, so Im gona upgrade it to the new pencil type glow plugs for better performance. I have read a type of instruction from dieselgiant.com, of how to upgrade glow plugs from the loop style to the new pencil type. Though all my glow plugs are not rewened or burnt out, the fuse is the only thing that was so close to be burnt out. When I try to unscrew the glowplug fuse, it was so fragile that it broke easily. So that could be my problem for harsh stranded starts. Especialy when I now run on my car on svo! DAY 1: It took me forever to get these old glow plugs out, you can see none of them where burnt out. Though when I look for the fuse box that hold the glowplug fuse, I see that the fuse box cover was missing, so the fuse got rewened and corroded. After getting parts out I started to go see if any parts stores will carry the new pencil type glow plugs, but none carry any glow plugs and most of the people didn't even know what glow plugs even are?!? So maybe you can help me? I need to fine the new pencil type glow plugs that have the screw on body of the old loop style plugs. Tomarow Im gona stop by the dealer and ask to see if they carry the new glow plugs and the fuse for it! Thanks for any help guys! This is from dieselgiant.com From this  To this  My Pics! Day 2: Well today was a gloomy rainy day, so all I can do for my car is get the wires done for the new glow plug set up! I used the 10 gauge wires as said in the instructions, and now all I need is the new gp fuse and gp!!! Hmmmmmm, dont get me wrong but I think I have a problem! You see these Beru Glow plugs are for 80-85 300d and mine is a 78, so I believe they would not fit?!? This is for the 80-85 300d  This is what my car has  Then you can see the Bosch one is a clear good fit!  Though on the site Dieselgiant.com, the guy had the Beru GP?!? I can't find those?!?! Got my order today from the Dieselgiant web site! Finally its been over a week since I place my order! Well I installed the new Bosch glow plugs today! I thought I was going to get the beru, but I guess not, these plugs will have to do! After I got everything set up and double check everything by useing the dieselgiant's instructions, I begin starting up my car! The car started up nice and fast! It has been sitting over a week and the car starts up very smooth, like it was warmed up mins ago! This is a big improve Upgrade! A few weeks ago, I drove my car to work in the mouring and when I was finish at my job, my car wouldnt started! It just kept cranking and nothing, and I had my foot down to the floor! It took me 4hours to get my car runing and another battery! Now my car starts up fine and havn't been turned on all week, and I HAVE VEGGIE OIL AS MY FUEL!!! This is a huge improvement!! Im very happy about the results and recommend to others who have the old loop style glow plugs to get the upgrade! Especially if your runing on Veggie oil!!! Im back on the roooad!!!!
