100K mile maintenance

While I'm at it, here's a list of things I feel should be done at or around 100K miles.  Any other suggestions?

1.  Spark plugs and wires

2.  Transmission fluid flush

3.  Fuel filter

4.  Antifreeze

5.  Inspections on things like motor mounts, springs, shocks, maf, etc.

6.  Anything else?

Belts, dust filter. How do you plan on doing the tranny flush ? I've asked for my previous car and seems to be a sealed type.

RE: 100K mile maintenance

I've already had the tranny flushed.  I believe it's just the torque convertor that is sealed, or in other words can't be drained.  It can be flushed though.  The local transmission place took off the tranny oil pan and used whatever machine they have to flush out the torque convertor.  I heard there is a plug and you can drain it on 99's, but mine is a 99 and I gave them directions on how to do it and they still said it couldn't be done.  So, who knows??

Some people (my dealership for example) say not to do it since it's sealed but even most dealerships go against that now and agree it should at least be done by the 100K mark.

I see.. well I sold it already. It was a 99 430. Tranny was "jumpy" and dealer told me they couldn't fix it

Re: 100K mile maintenance

Yeah, I think my dealer said not to do it, but if I wanted it done they'd charge me something stupid like $600.  I took it to a regular transmission place and they used MB fluid and did it for about $180.  So, I guess it's all just in who you talk to.

That's a good list. May have to keep that around for when the ML gets to 100k. Yeah, I'm not liking how MB says that the tranny fluid is lifetime. Whatever, I'm sure it'll last 300k miles if we were to keep it that long.

Re: 100K mile maintenance

When I had mine flushed, the tranny people said it wasn't horrible but it definitely needed to be changed.  I'd think so since it has almost 100K on it and the previous owner took it into Chicago everyday for work.  That's a lot of stress on a vehicle.
