| Adding Oil
My 99 E300 needs some oil added (about .5 qt), I do not know what oil is in it, can I put a synthetic in the mix at this point?
Would love some advise in this area.

When was the oil last changed? If it’s been a while just change the oil.
Otherwise you may add synthetic w/o a problem but you might want to have it changed soon and document the type and weight oil for the next top off. Better yet, after the change, keep a quart of what was used in the trunk.

Thanks, not sure when changed last as I just bought the vehicle. I was planning on changing oil but will be talking a 700 mile trip the day after x-mas so wanted to make sure that I am topped off with oil.

u should be able to top off with whatever oil you want to.....
