Additives

With the new ULSD fuel, is anyone adding something to their fuel to increase lubricity?

RE: Additives

The fuel does not need any additives for lubricity.

RE: Additives

It's good to spray in cylinders of an engine thats been sitting for a long time to lube the rings, but little else.

RE: Additives

I use whatever it is my Father brought home from work(6 GALLONS) and it smells just like power service, but was free.

It's called PowerMasterPlus or some such, and it seems to help the Shlomo get better mileage-- I drove 300 miles on a full tank, added 15 dollars and drove 150 more, added 9, and drove 75-- then I added 16.50(the rest of a 20 after a pack of Marlboros) and saw foam in the filler neck, so maybe it's full again?

The gauge isn't very accurate, and cleaning the last one only broke it to where I had to get a new one. I'm not doing that again. Can one drill out the holes in the sender so it flows more and is more accurate?

RE: Additives

It will be less accurate with larger holes. The fuel will slosh in/out of it faster.

RE: Additives

yeah, but maybe it wouldn't stop measuring fuel at 1/3 a tank then.

It's likely an algea problem(again..) but I'm not taking the tank out(again..) and I'm not going to spend money on biocides.

I should just get rid of the car-- a 280e would be less trouble and with the fuel pricing(additives just make the difference even higher-- YEAH!! BACK ON TOPIC!!) as it is and will be, would be more economical as well.

100 extra horses might be welcome.

Re: Additives

Yes I have used Marvel Mystery Oil in various MB diesels and in my old porsche 356's when leaded fuel went away. It helped to lubricate the valve seats.
