Dirty Injectors??

My friend's father-in-law who lives in Texas has finally gotten his stalling problem fixed in his 560. He said the mechanic said it was dirty injectors. I didn't even know that the 560 SEL HAD injectors. He also went ahead and changed the plugs and said it runs like a dream!

RE: Dirty Injectors??

Yep most W126's were fuel injected, infact, fuel injection featured on many MB's in the 60's and 70's
All V8's from the 60's on were fuel injected and most other models had it as sort of an option

My '79 and '85 S-Class' are both injected as was my '77 S-Class
That's what the E in SEL means - E=Einspriztung=Injection

The only W126 model without fuel injection was the 280S

As for the clogged injectors, well, nothing a couple of bottles of injector cleaner every year can't help avoid

RE: Dirty Injectors??

I am new here, and I just bought my new 85' 500 SEL "Pristine", it has serious fuel system issues (rough at idle and just plain O' rough!)...1. I am having the Injectors switched from the org. Steel ones to Brass, fixing the fuel dist, and sealing the manifold. Nothing cheep by no means! ...I am looking forward to cruisin' in my Benz this weekend!!!!

Peace & Happiness,

Q

My friend's 300SE looks just like yours except his is all white. His also idles rough and he wondered if injector replacement would fix his. He's going to do it this summer.

I hade a bit of a funny idle in my W140, so I changed the fuel filter, plugs, and cap and rotor and it runs so smooth I can't tell if the damn thing is on 'cept for the tach.

Re: Dirty Injectors??

Take up the use of fuel cleaners and injector cleaners, starting with four times a year reducing to twice a year.

Basically it is a carbon cleaning and reducing agent. A small tin of additive to a full fuel tank is the way to apply it.

There are other concentrates of the cleaning but that form is for professional use only.
