Washer tank

Just curious if any of you experienced anything similar to this:

Sometimes, over time, my windshield washer fluid tank very slowly "evaporates" (I think) until the low fluid light comes on. I only drive my car on fair days, so I seldom use the washer system - so it's certainally not from use. Is this a natural byproduct of the coolant lines running through the tank just incase you use straight water.

Anyone else experience this? I do hesitate to call it a problem heh.

RE: Washer tank

Coincidently, this happens to me aswell. Normaly taking corners too hard will cause the light to come on, but i have searched for leaks and found none. Driving conservatively, it will take about two weeks for the light to come on, in which case i have to refill the empty container. Its really a nuisance, to be frank....

Careful, benz420 - someone will think that the two of us are on a mission for post count hehe.

I think it has to be the coolant lines or something.

I have not found a leak as well.

Maybe the gasket on the lid of the tank, or where the low level sensor may need to be replaced or something? I think this may be a lot more common, just high idle issues take the lime light.

"lol, i wont be able to keep up with some of the post whores at this site" (he says as he adds another post to his post count)

Maybe i'll check that sensor out, but still wont explain the loss of fluid. hmm......

Re: Washer tank

I tried being a post whore for a month - that was back when Golddigger madness had BW! I'm back to my conservative climb upwards. Hopefully I'll be able to do better than 800 posts in 2 years this time around, heh.

Yeah check those gaskets - I'll ask my mechanic's opinion as well.

The coolant lines make sense – but I’d fill mine up to the top, use the washers once or twice, and the low fluid dash light would come on. The float must be stuck or something. I just pulled the plug on the sensor.

RE: Washer tank

Must be a leak somewhere! My washer tank does not lose fluid unless it is by my use of the windscreen washer.

I would only ever top it off about 0.5l once a month.
