I'm head scratching why anyone would do this mod. I don’t understand, either – I believe it’s a young person’s thing. I appreciate the modder respecting the car otherwise.

"Um I left it on the spped bump" This seems like a bit of a waste of time to me, as the car has been left stock. If it were to be modded it may look a bit better, but then doning this to cars is not my thing.

The 126s are cheap as chips here in NZ. You can pic up a 280SE like that one for under NZ$3000 easily. For me there are some low riders I like and some I don't. If I was doing it to a 126 I'd do it to a 500 and run at least 20s. But I'd never do it because they ride really crap. Still that stock one does look cool sitting that low and good on them for doing something different. If it had a V8 I could of done a feature on it in NZV8 magazine....

Also the thought of having 2 Benz on my hands . I keep asking my Mum and Dad for cash at the moment and feel bad about it, man I need a job.

nomad Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Stock looking, slammed 126 I think it's quite neat and amusing They're so damn cheap and common why not? Photoman is right, a 280SE sells for peanuts and these guy's can obviously do the modding for next to nothing as they own the shop that did the work It could have been a nice clean example sure, but that's boring. Good job I say

shrimpton Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: Stock looking, slammed 126 Yep, each to our own ideas. I guess it could be fun at first sight, but so were wheel spinners, neon underlighting, 20" retro-fitted wheels, light changing paint jobs, rear headrest DVD screens, twin 18" boot woofers, interior mirror hanging dice, mudflap reflectors, ah..and stick on the dash springy wobbly things. Who can forget the rear parcel shelf nodding dog!. So..the Hoons have finally updated to the 126, I bet the 140 will stump them!.

Well, I think most are still driving old civics, 323 wagons etc. There are a few kitted out 126's on trademe at the moment and nobody is buying them. The biggest giveaway to a car that has had first and 2nd thrashed out in it between the light is a lowered car with chromes.

jdc1244 Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | RE: Stock looking, slammed 126 Needless to say – an M110 126 in the US would be treated as a rare and special item, a EuroBenz to be pampered, cared for, and restored/kept bone stock.

Stock is To some, perhaps. But to many such as myself a true 126 EuroBenz would be exciting with beam level adjustable Euro lights and dark amber indicators, short bumpers, rear fog light, cloth interior, manual A/C and window cranks, and a 185 hp engine. Add a manual tranny and we’re approaching sports sedan.

Stock is lol ... I haven't had one Merc that I haven't modified. My 140 is inline for the most mods yet. And yes here in NZ the old 280SELs are not worth much at all. In fact even the 380s aren' really sort after. There was a good buy a couple of weeks ago for NZ$6500 (about US$4000). A mint 560SEL. I nearly bought it but just don't have the space.

I also heard that rock salts are not used in NZ to de-ice the frozen roads so the cars suffer less from corrosion, thereby adding to the longevity of cars. Is that really true?

Yea we don't put salt on the roads in winter. Most of the country is no cold enough to warrant it. How ever because of teh geographic nature of NZ almost all our major centres are costal, so we get a bit of salt air. Add to that the humidity in the north of the North Island. As to cars lasting longer well I don't know. From my expierence any car anywhere that is not looked after will root out pretty fast.
