Cannot Unlock Gas Door Something is up with our electrical system... The door locking system is inoperable. When I use the remote, all I get is either a flashing red or green indicator (rear view mirror) combined with either left or right turn signal flash of front fender lights. Regina has been driving and now the gas light is on... cannot open the door to the gas tank/cap as it is in the locked position. I can usually pull up or push down on the driver's door lock post to either lock or unlock the truck... NO SUCH LUCK. I have checked the fuses and am not sure where to go from here. FIRST: Is there a way to manually unlock the exterior gas door?.. what about from the inside? SECOND: What other than the fuses could be the cause of this? Other than a GHOST IN THE MACHINE ;-p thanks, Patrick

Cannot Unlock Gas Door I presume you are referencing your 2000 G500. Go to page 12 of your Exterior Owner's Manual book. It will describe the locking system reset. Just in case you don't have it: - Direct the remote control transmitter at the receiver in the interior mirror and press the transmit button twice briefly - within 30 seconds, turn the key to position 2 in the ignition lock - after this the locking system will again be operational If this doesn't work post again. There is additional info in the WIS

Cannot Unlock Gas Door The fuel filler flap manual release is described on page 23 of the Exterior manual. Remove edge protection and rear panel trim from right rear door pillar. Pull upwards on the strap until the tank flap releases.

Alternately means a low battery in the remote. Simultaneously, indicates a major electrical fault in the truck - probably in the K40 Relay or the main ECU..

Cannot Unlock Gas Door 97 G320 3 red flashes or 1 green flash on the rear view mirror... tried two different keys and get the same response. Greatest confusion is that when I pull up or push down on the driver's door lock, there is no electrical response. Usually this will electronically lock or unlock all doors. I fly out on Monday for Houston/Colorado Springs for 9 days and was in hopes of at least filling up. Regina is driving the 320 as the 500 is waiting on some part... She will simply drive my pick 'em up truck if I cannot resolve door lock issue before leaving. I will have to take out the rear jump seat to access the back panel, but will do so hopefully this afternoon, weather permitting. Thanks for your (y'alls) help, humor, and advice... keep it coming. The delay in parts combined with these mysterious problems contribute to the "replace the G blasphemy" sometimes heard when these issues occur at inconvenient times... wouldn't be as tough if we didn't have 4 little ones. Thanks, Patrick

Is the vehicle's battery fully charged? It sounds like you may have a loose or broken connection in the driver's door.

Alternate flashing in the mirror indicates a problem. Simultaneous flashing in the mirror is a low remote battery. I see this latter when it's cold; and the remote has been outside in cold weather. Note: This is on my 2000 G500. Not sure it it's the same for the 97 G320

There's not a lot of help in the WIS that is specific to the driver's door; but, if you want the info, send me an email with yous. I'll scan and send it to you as a PDF. Please be sure to include your VIN in the email, so I can be sure to send you the right stuff.

CaptnPete Date registered: Dec 1899 Location: Vehicle(s): | Re: HELP !!! Cannot Unlock Gas Door If you are getting all these crazy messages from your car, have you tried starting it? Usually it will refuse to start when it senses that the door opening procedure is not correct. What good is it to open the filler door, when the car is not going to start anyway?

Cannot Unlock Gas Door 97 G320 Runs fine and has been... it just all of a sudden on Friday decided to give the electronic door locking system a vacation... I easily removed the back corner panel, pulled the manual release, and opened the door. No real time to dismantle the driver's door for now... not until my return in 10 days... Thanks for all the help. Faithfully, Patrick

I have a Euro Spec G320 (1999 V6) Locks all work fine but i cannot open the gas door. I removed the back panel to do the manual release but it does nothing. Any suggestions other than ripping the door off? is this a fuse issue? Is there just a fuse for this?
