Power rear Sunshade

Hey, I'm looking to putting a power sunshade in my 500SEL. I have one in my Grand Edition and it is AWESOME when it's hot out. I was curious if anyone had ever installed one in a W140 that doesn't have one. I'm too afraid to ask the stealership what it will cost, so I thought I might ask here if anyone has done it, or seen it done. Let me know.... Thanks

Hey Dante,

I have wondered about doing that or my S500 too, but I think it might be difficult, cuz you also have to install a new button.

RE: Power rear Sunshade

I have one in my 300SEL, I think that the cost is so high as to install a new one for the pars that most people dont bother. Running the wiring would not be that hard even if you had to attach a new button.

Yea that could work, I dunno what parts are like on the states but here the cost would still be too high. You could always sell the car and get one with a shade but then yours is in such good condition that it would be hard to find a replacement. Are you still selling the 93?

I think he is. Dante, if you are to sell it, what would you replace it with?

Well, I'm not quite sure.... I've always wanted an 1999 SL500 with AMG rims. I would also look into getting an old Ferrari 308 or 328. I like Range Rover 4.6HSE. But since I tend to lean towards sedans, I would probably get a 2000 Lexus LS400 with the navigation and nakamichi sound sytem. I probably won't be able to sell the 93 for what I want for it.... I don't really care, I love it, and it always looks nice with 2 W140s in my garage....

Yeah, I drove one for a few weeks last year and really liked it. Although I would never pay the $80,000 sicker price for one. Everything seemed to be cheap and plastic on the inside, but it still looks awesome and goes anywhere!

yea, you are right about the Land Rovers and Range Rovers being cheap in quality. They certainly are. I drove a Discovery, (The old one) and everything in that car seems cheap in quality. Especially the golve box. But yeah, they certainly can go everywhere.

Very nice SUVs.

But be honest unless you want to buy a Bentley or a Rolls etc almost every car that is now made is like that.

RE: Power rear Sunshade

My car has the factory sunshade which only seem to be working in the summer time. It was up the whole winter and it wouldn't go down. Soon as it hit 10 degrees Celsius it goes up and down anyways here is a little help:

read the whole thing it reveals everything.

I wish I had a power rear sunshade. I had one in my S600, but don't/didn't have one in my 95 or 96 S500.

My mechanic lubes the 140 sun shades at every service. Mine works really well
