Re: The W460 paint code compilation project

Really quick, just found out the Gentian Blue rig is not Gentian but instead Sapphire Blue DB5360/RAL5003.

RE: The W460 paint code compilation project

J-dawg,

Nice job man. Cool that you're doing this!

I feel like I've mentioned this before so forgive me if it's a repeat. If not, could be that I meant to post and didn't.

When my paint guys were trying to find my RAL9001, they ended up calling Dupont because the RAL9001 formula they had wasn't producing a paint sample that matched. The nice lady at Dupont said that my RAL9001 was not the creamy white on the regular MB consumer paint charts but was from the MB Truck (or Fleet) charts (just as 460332 mentioned on the previous page). With that, she gave them a paint formula that's really really close the original paint on my truck. I'm fairly certain the creamy white chips from the '83 and later charts don't represent the 9001 white on early 460's.
Any luck on getting a hold of the "MB truck (or fleet) charts that 460332 and Dupont is talking about?

RE: The W460 paint code compilation project

Jeremy.

The Unimog codes could be helpful here too. Some "cross-pollination" evident?

Given the frequency of SA and/or customer specific orders, it might get difficult to stick to a W460 "Standard" quest.

Respect for your efforts so far.

Eddie.

Thanks Steveo!

I wish I could find more pics to put into this historical registry but it's been a bit challenging thus far.

Interesting on your RAL9001. So is yours creamier than original creamy?
I don't have access to those charts, sorry. Eddie??

RE: The W460 paint code compilation project

Hello everyone, I'm new in the forum and new in the G world. I'm restoring an ^87 460 and I wanted to change the color. I liked the "Otto" blue the famous Gunter Holtorf G, and wanted to know if you can tell me the name and RAL code of that color.

Thank you.

Re: The W460 paint code compilation project

Just came across this thread again and am sorry to see it has last been updated in 2014.

Could we resurrect it an possibly include 463's.

A couple of years have gone by an many new colours have been introduced.
