RE: New Product Release: Transfer Case Skid Plate

Interesting. A couple of questions, if I may.

1.) Does it interfere with air circulation around and cooling of the TC?

2.) Why aluminum? Aluminum is notorious for grabbing and sticking (galling) to rocks. If you do high center on that aluminum plate, you might have a more difficult time getting un-high-centered than you would with steel.

Great questions, looking forward to reading the response.

Re: New Product Release: Transfer Case Skid Plate

Other aftermarket TC skid plates by ORC and Desert Services are also made of aluminum plate. Having seen one of these mounted and in use, this product does not appear to impact airflow around the TC while the vehicle is in motion. For rock crawling on the Rubicon trail or similar prolonged very slow, low range driving, heat dissapation may be more of an issue. Given the widespread use of TC skids in the off road community, this may not be a big issue.

You are correct again, Eric.

The heat dissipation will actually be better with the aluminum skid plate mounted, it will work as a large heat sink....
