Turbo can't be rebuilt

Well, I tried to get the turbo rebuilt in my ML 320 CDI and found out that the parts for it are not available unless someone frabricates it. By the time we are talking about fabricating the parts for it, and the two week wait, and then shipping I am almost to the same pice of buying a new one.

So far I have found one for $2,184 in Ft Lauderdale.

My whole reasoning for fixing this oil leak from inside the turbo is because I didn't want it to get worse and cause a huge problem while I am driving across country, and then I didn't want the engine to run on the engine oil.

Please tell me I am not making a mountain out of a molehill here.

That begs a question. If that were to happen, how would I shut down the engine? Shouldn't there be something to cut off the airflow at the intake somehow?

RE: Turbo can't be rebuilt

MBUSA indeed has a rebuilt parts catalog and it's true the turbo for OM642 is not listed.

See page 76:  http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/11039/?requestedDocId=11039

Re: Turbo can't be rebuilt

So the E320 CDI diesel is different than the ML320 CDI?

Yes, the E320CDI is an I-6 and the ML320CDI is a V6.

Re: Turbo can't be rebuilt

Ok, so there any way to shut down the engine from under the hood if it is running on it's own motor oil?
