Can anyone tell me if the wider g55 fender flares can be installed without modification to a 2000 model year truck? If so, is there anyone out there wishing to sell a spare set or know of a reputable company manufacturing them at a reasonable cost? Although nowhere in the MB parts guide does it state that these fiberglass flares are impregnated with gold dust, the price of $799.00 per flare would lead me to believe so. Cheers!

The only source I know is Guido of offroad-world. He might have the color you want. I am looking for the same wider flares for the 460s. I ve seen pictures but no one was able to nail down the part number. I see these on military Gs with wider axles. Oh, I dont like the ORC fiberglass ones. These are not cheap! http://cgi.ebay.com/MERCEDES-G-AMG-G55K-Kotflugelverbreiterungen-W4... http://cgi.ebay.com/MERCEDES-G-AMG-G55K-Kotflugelverbreiterungen-W4...

Honestly unless you have big meaty tires on your truck, they look a little goofy don't you think? Agreed they're more practical for better keeping stuff off the side of the trucks though.

Well hopefully the flares are going on to cover some meaty tires This thread reminds me of the blue G cab on ebay. G55 flares combined with new offset wheels on a 460....looks rediculous.

An opinion on the asthetics of your possessions should never affect your ego such that you feel insulted. You are not your possessions, and aethetics are vastly subjective. Many, MANY people think the g-wagen is outright ugly. I'm not insulted in the least. i'm not insulting g55 owners in any way, but i'm saying the fender flares on the stock tires look a little goofy. it's certainly not a reason to avoid buying the car... the motor i would hopw is the reason to buy the car regardless (if one is going to do so), and you could obviously swap flares with someone plus cash if you didn't like them. The factory g500 flares on the et63 rims and stock tires also look a little goofy in my opinion (though not quite as much). MBUSA trucks come with et43 rims which fill the g500 flares out better. Europa and non-US/Rest of world gets et63 rims (which is what i had) which are almost 1 inch set further in on the body. I don't like the factory chrome spare tire cover on any g-wagens either... hopefully no one is offended? I also think black exterior colored g's mask the beauty of the body style. However, I think rims larger than 18" not only look like high healed shoes on a football player... but they're as functional as high healed shoes on a football player too (in nearly all cases). Here, it could be inferred that i'm insulting someones judgement skills... or at least calling them into question. PS. To stay truly on topic, I believe you also need to buy a wheel-well liner piece to mate to the wider flare.

This was an after thought as the inner fender covers do not fit the wider flares properly. to run 33in or 35in tires on 463, one would need spacers to prevent rubbing. But the tires would stick out 10mm more. This is my case. I would like to have the G55 flares; but no $$$ as these are expensive and deem to be esthetic and not functional parts.

How about a few pictures of the Brabus G5.8 so we can get a look at the subject vehicle. A description of the type of wheel you are using or plan to use with the ET and width dimensions along with tire selection may help to guide advice on the necessity of the AMG flare, or at least put things in perspective for the benefit of those providing advice.

Thank you for the feedback! Ultimately, I have some spacers that I will be adding in the very near future and will most likely stuff some 35"s under those fenders. All the Brabus purists will scoff at my desire to modify with 'off road' features as it flies in the face of the speed and handling quotient that my truck already possesses. I currently have 275 65R 18" BFG All Terrains on powdercoated AMG 18" wheels and they look quite rugged in those wells. Attached is a 'teaser' photo of my truck. It is a 2000 with every option Brabus offered that year. The truck body was sent to the Brabus factory in Germany before making its way across the pond. Anything taller than 33s on a 18 inch rim and the handling goes away on pavement The G55 starts to look right with 285(which is stock) on up. Does anyone have a g 55 with 325-60-18s? They would fill the fender flares all the way and they also fit the wide amg rims to spec. There is no function on the wider fenders from throwing stuff on the side of the body....the running boards do the most job for side protection than the fender flares. Erik is right they are ugly as are some 500 with the tires sticking out past the fender flares at least for my taste........ I did buy the 55k for the motor and I think the G looks best with the narrow original body lines as made in the past......with tall and skinny high et 16 inch rims for me I am looking forward to a 500 short wheel base set up like that....I heard someone selling one but they never asked me to buy it! I wonder if the Brabus purists understand that, in its "purest" form, it was designed for offroad and at the opposite end of the "pimped" scale. So your changes are perfectly understandable (if you are actually going to take it offroad - in NYC?)

Thanks for all the input! I do live in Colorado and used the truck extensively this winter for skiing trips. I have always been a partial to BFGs on my trucks, and this set of All Terrains is no exception. Deep snow, ice packed, sub zero temps didn't slow me in the least! With about 470 horses under the hood and the monster Brabus brake package, I can get down the road in a hurry.

I was searching around for G55 flares and came across this topic. I mounted front AMG flares on my 1999 G500 a couple years ago. They fit the same. I damaged the front right flare and am looking for a replacement right now. Here is how it looked before the accident.
