Yes, two down pipes and 2 cats. A 2" clamp on each down pipe, and a 2 1/4 inch clamp on the cat side of each joint.

Alles klar. Wieder Dank!

Re: Exhaust clamp rusted/leaking

If you were inclined to separate the down pipes and the cat pipe, you could easily slip a new flange and seal onto the end of the down pipe. These are the only MB original whole flanges you can add without cutting the pipe and rewelding.
Down pipe flange A1264920245 ($15 ea)
Pipe seal ring A1269970141 ($9 ea)

Re: Exhaust clamp rusted/leaking

I just had this repaired on my G. They put a coupler around it and welded circumference. Leak free now.

RE: Exhaust clamp rusted/leaking

Funny! Just had to do the same thing on the Baby G (84 230GE). On that one the two pipes going into the front (transverse) resonator are only about an inch apart, wall to wall so those bolt-together clamps would never fit. I got some "Walker" brand 2-piece clamps that are made of a stack of steel plates riveted together that interlace at the holes where the bolts go through. Clever design. Even those I had to remove about 1/2 of their width in the area where the two clamps pass next to each other between the pipes. It was a very fiddly operation, but it did work. Who knows how long they'll last, but it's quiet for now. If I get desperate, I still have G-Zilla's old take-off exhaust set-up (no resonator) that I could substitute.

PS- here's the type of flange repair kit I used (with a little modification):

Re: Exhaust clamp rusted/leaking

Mike at Time Valve Manufacturing apparently has stainless exhausts available for some G-Class models.
Time Valve is a long time MB Club of America member and vendor that has been making faithful reproductions of factory MB exhaust systems *In Stainless Steel* for many, many years.

Worth a call. If he does not have it, he will make it based on your original parts. Prices are good.

Go underneath your truck with an inch caliper and start measuring tube diameters. This will guide your flange selection. I have abunch of spares after replacing 2/3 of my exhaust system (main and center mufflers).

Re: Exhaust clamp rusted/leaking

Just went back to this thread to find the source for exhaust split flange - I need 2 pcs. 2" and ordered them via e-bay.

I also discovered this neat thing:

Re: Exhaust clamp rusted/leaking

I just ordered the down pipe flanges and fiber ring seals for the G320 from MB of Littleton. Their wholesale site is 32% off of retail prices.
Oembenzparts.com

I'll need two of the pre-cat split flanges as well.

I do have some extras from the G500 as I bought a new center and main muffler that came with flanges of course. Check the classifieds.
