After a long time of being inactive on the forum I'm back and I have a new toy! I recently acquired a 2003 G500. The PO removed the command module and I've found that a number of things are impossible to change without it. Like the clock on the dash. Does anyone know the steps needed to remove command from star diag? Or does anyone know how long the dealer should charge for this? Otherwise (and this is a long shot) does anyone know the canbus commands to set the clock on the dash?

There's a menu in STAR to remove 'navigation' which returns a lot of functionality to the instrument cluster. Congrats with the new toy! Do you mind posting some pictures or a detailed description of the STAR screens you had to go through to return functionality to the instrument cluster? I got 2002 G500 with an aftermarket sound system and would also like to make these changes but I would like to have some instructions ready for my mechanic as I am pretty sure he does not know how to do it in STAR.

NYG500 - 8/24/2015 8:59 AM What kind of functionality did you gain in the instrument cluster when removing navigation? Setting the clock and changing the 'comfort' settings like turning the headlights when exiting the vehicle. MBRocket - 8/23/2015 11:18 PM Congrats with the new toy! Thanks! It's quite a change going from a 280GE to G500! MBRocket - 8/23/2015 11:18 PM Do you mind posting some pictures or a detailed description of the STAR screens you had to go through to return functionality to the instrument cluster? I'll have to ask my service guru. He knew where it was and it took all of 2 mins to disable the 'navigation' option from the set of modules installed in the vehicle. I'll see what I can do.

I talked to the service advisor at the local dealership today and he wasn`t sure it could be done at all, so I would definitely like to have some instructions with me next time I go see them.

I've recently installed one of those aftermarket headunits that uses a stock looking chassis. Best choice ever. But now I want to delete the comand so I can change the clock located in the cluster. The new radio I purchased also has a built in phone so it would be good to delete the phone stuff as well. Just wanted to see if anyone else has deleted these things via STAR as well as removed them physically? Not sure exactly what I can and cannot remove but I know theres a lot of stuff located all around the G thats been obsolete for some time so I wouldn't be opposed to unplugging and removing. CD changer will have to stay since that would leave a hole. Bluetooth stuff in console is easy. Anything under the seats related to the comand/navi/phone/voice control? And any issues shutting these things off in STAR? My steering wheel controls all work with the new radio but voice control does not (never used it anyway). Thanks for any tips on how to pare down the infotainment stuff.

I'm pretty sure Karl pulled all the obsolete units out of his G500. He posted a bunch of pics on Clubgwagen, but it was all deleted when he had a disagreement with a moderator and was banned. Too bad, really good info. Maybe he will chime in here.
