Approaching 100k on 2009 g550, what should I do?

Hi,

Just wanted to get some opinions on what I should do for a heavily used 2009 G550, approaching 100k miles? Brakes are fairly new. Clearly will do oil. What else should I focus on? I will note that late last summer I had some issues when owning off the beach. The transfer case didn't work and I had to back down on it, to work.

Thank you

What does heavily used mean?
What prior maintenance records do you have?

The truck has been dealer maintained. So presumably they have followed the service schedule. I have replaced brakes and rotors, bled the lines in the last year. I am off the dealer plan at this poin and just want to know what should be done. Truck has been used off and on road. With off road mostly on the beach and light trails.

My .02 cents. Do not presume anything. The quality of a lot of techs and dealerships these days is very poor. They are famous for not doing work that you have paid for. I would do all fluids (please run synthetic), flush cooling system, replace grease in the homokinetic shaft (I recommend you replace the CV boots also), spark plugs / ignition coils, all filters (I think you have a power steering filter also)...and then refer to service sheet for the G550. I am not sure how different the G550 is from the G500 / G55 that preceded it because I believe the G550 is a 4-valve motor so I am a little out of my area of expertise, generationally, on this.

Agree with all of H1's post except for ignition coils. There's no need to replace these, unless you know any of them have failed. They're generally good for 300000 miles.

So I did most of this and the truck is great. I swear that the truck is now changing gears more frequently and with less effort. When in reverse there used to be a delay when shifting into drive, but no more.

Also discovered that the dealer didn't fill up the diff transfer case reservoir. I am assuming this is the issue with the transfer case not working.

Done with MB dealers.. their all the same!

Do you mean differential locks reservoir? The transfer case diff lock is strictly vacuum operated, The diff locks on the axles require fluid in that reservoir followed by bleeding the lines.
