I was flushing brake and differential lock fluids when I thought of some of your comments about Redline fluids which is not only great for our truck but it will also improve gas mileage. Although it's been less than 20,000 miles since I've changed front/back differentials and transfer case fluids, I've just wanted to give it a try. I've used MB 85W-90 fluid for both differentials and transfer case previously, and I've changed it to redline 75W-90 for differentials and MT90 for transfer case. I really can't tell if it improved performance of truck although I think I can feel that it responds better(lighter?) to gas pedal especially when engine is cold in the morning. However, I can definitely say that it improved the gas mileage from 13.3 to 13.9 The numbers are from the trip meter which I'd reset every 2000 miles or so and it's always been 13.3 or 13.4 I've been driving the same routes (just commute from home to work) everyday for the last two years, so I know that the numbers can't be misleading. I know that I won't be saving much money with 4% increase in gas mileage, but I'm really surprised to see the difference with different fluid and makes me wonder what gives? BTW, it's going to be another topic, when I flushed the front differential lock, nothing came out although rear lock flushed fine and all lines for front looks fine.

This is why Toyota now uses 0w20 weight engine oil. I'll add that while good for MPG, I don't personally believe lower viscosity is better for engine/gear wear.

The Redline lubricants are not lower viscosity, but are of superior synthetic base stocks. When I switched my G500 from dyno based oils to Redline synthetics, I, too, experienced an improvement in mpg. Personally, I would NEVER use a 0W oil in any motor vehicle engine. My G500 gets 10W40 Redline and the Audi Q7 TDI gets synthetic 5W30 VW 504.00/507.00 spec oil.

Over a three month period, I developed a rainbow of leaks. I started to leak engine oil, power steering fluid, differential oil, steering weep seals increased loss, and transmission fluid (although that was not Redline). My truck was born on Dino Juice, and the synthetics 'cleaned it's clock'. Everywhere I went, I left at least four colors of fluid on the ground.

Nary a leak thus far.... I still use dino motor oil and dino transmission fluid in the 722.3. No leaks there, either. Did you go back to dino fluids? If so, did that stop the leaks?

I changed fluids in the power steering fluid. I have to keep an eye on the front differential fluid. It will be due for a rebuild soon. It has 240,000+ miles...
