LED headlight conversion

Greetings

I'm in the process of doing a LED headlight conversion on my W460. EuroTruck use to sell an adaptor that would make this job easy - but alas no longer.
I tried Vlad at FourByFour as well - he said he had something which I ordered, then cancelled as I thought I had broken the G badly so thought it would be off the road for some time.
Emailed Vlad to reorder but haven't had any response at all... so my search continues.
I believe certain older VW headlight buckets may work. Even been told certain Lada models. Has anyone had any success with sourcing an easy way to mount LED headlights?

Thanks
Sean

Re: LED headlight conversion

The headlamp buckets are from a 944 Porsche. You might be able to find them used in wrecking yard. They were made by Hella.

Why is a bucket needed?  The headlights themselves are completely waterproof.   A stone shield might be helpful.  The best thing would be to install later model fender liners.  Less rust, headlight protection and quieter running.

Depends on what you put in. Trucklite LEDs for example require some kind of mounting ring .. I used Porsche ones :-)

That's what I'm after! I'm looking at the TruckLite LED as well.
Those Harley ones will hold a 7 inch LED for sure, but don't fit correctly into the W460.
I even tried the Hella ones. Didn't match up to the mounting holes and even if they did the light was to far back into the W460. Left a big gap between headlight and the headlight surround.

RE: LED headlight conversion

Check Vision Xtreme.
They have universal round headlights that should work.

Thanks. But I have the headlights sorted. That was a mission in itself. Heaps of lights available for driving on the right side of the road. But down here we are on the left so the lights have to focus the other way.
The TruckLite LED is available for driving on the left. The problem is mounting them in the W460. From what I understand a lot of Gs that where imported into USA had a conversion already done to take any 7 inch headlight. Those conversion kits are no longer available - EuroTruck use to sell them.
I may have found something I can modify made by Nava. Will see how we get on :-)

Re: LED headlight conversion

i also use the trucklite on my 300ge, not sure whether it is the same as the 460.
but i was offered 2 options for the buckets which were available locally here in indonesia, one from the FJ/BJ toyota LC or ones from old suzuki jimnys.
i opted for the latter as they were far cheaper

Cool. Do you have any photos with the TruckLites installed?
Land cruiser and Suzuki ones would be easy to get hold of here in NZ! Thanks for that.

RE: LED headlight conversion

I used to work for Eurotruck and I ordered them from the Porsche dealer. This is the same conversion part Europa used.
