1999 G500 clockspring

During the installation of my Camptop, quite a bit of debris was able to get into the steering column and some of it into the clockspring as well. I have cleaned it all out but am still getting some grinding noise from the clockspring. I expect that I will need to replace it.
There are 2 parts on EPC and I am not sure which one to get. I will likely need to pull it apart again to get a look at it but was thinking there may be someone that has replaced it before.

Here is the screen shot from EPC, the two parts are about $100 each wholesale.

Any late (1992-1999) W124, W210 or W140 clock-spring should work in your G. Just go to a wrecking yard and get a steering wheel from one of these cars, and you can retrofit the part.

It's discussed at a lot of points on my forum (http://www.500eboard.com/forums), and you should also check out the site www.2phast.com Rik runs that site and there is a lot of detail about steering wheel retrofits and HOW-TO illustrations. Not a difficult task.

Re: 1999 G500 clockspring

Oops, it was the 170 part number.
I got it in today and installed it. Figured it was time to swap in that used "G" airbag cover I picked up as well.
So nice and quiet now without that constant grinding, plus I can hook the horn back up now.

I do need to still fix the LCD that started to fade around new year's.
