Jesse Member Date registered: Aug 2017 Location: Massachusetts Vehicle(s): 2005 G55 Posts: 9 | Where can I buy a 2005 G55 center drive shaft? The center drive shaft CV joints are shot in my 2005 G55. It is MB part number A4634100802. There is a A4634100702 as well, but it appears to be 5mm different in length. Can anyone recommend where I can buy a replacement? I checked with fourbyfourclub.com and couchoffroad.com. They do not have either the complete shaft or the replacement CVs. I tried to call eurotruck-importers.com, but there is no answer at the main number and the phone won't let me leave a message. It looks like there are a couple in Germany in MB warehouse, but figured I would check here before paying/shipping/waiting to get if from Germany. Thanks, - Jesse Edited by Jesse 1/18/2018 5:06 PM

Yes they go bad from dried up grease. If yours has vibe, you can either replace the CV joints with GKN joints like Eurotruck sells or just buy a complete shaft. Harald redid his with new CVs and had to get a new shaft again like a year later. Maybe he will chime in here.

If sourcing from Germany is OK this might be an option: https://www.kardanwelle24.de/gelenkwellen-kardanwellen/search/merced... I ordered a front-driveshaft recently - and everything was fast and smooth. Edited by thebigblue 1/19/2018 7:08 AM

It drives me crazy when folks ask questions and then never post the resolution, so here is where I am... The truck started to have a vibration beyond the "normal" G vibrations. I had the truck at a very trustworthy local independent for something unrelated and he suggested taking a look at the center shaft because it is a common cause of vibrations. He pulled it out and there were significant grooves in the CV joint. (I will try to take and post pictures next time I am working in the garage.) I called all around looking for a new one (as mentioned above) and could not find one. Without a clear path to getting a new drive shaft or new CVs in my hands, the local shop found a used one locally. The shop pulled the used one apart and the joints were not perfect, but in much better shape than mine, so he installed it. The vibration is now resolved. That said, I am not confident that the used part will last (given I do not know the history), I continued to search for a new shaft. I got in touch with Sean @ eurotruck-importers.com and he was a big help. He understood the issue, was familiar with the various different versions of the G center shaft, and had the right one in stock. It is the complete GKN shaft and CV joints. That new shaft is now on the way, so when I run into this issue again, I will be ready to go. Thanks, - Jesse PS - If anyone had questions, send me a PM. I have subscribed to follow this thread, but I am not getting notifications of new posts. Edited by Jesse 1/24/2018 3:48 PM

A friend showed me this website a few days ago: http://www.driveshaftparts.com/index.php?route=product%2Fcategory&p... Prices are much lower than from a MB dealer (I guess that not original parts). Anybody has any experience with them?

If that site sells Spicer parts for those prices that would be perfect. Spicer is just as good as oe Benz. My stock shaft doesn't vibrate still but good to know there could be a lower price replacement out there.
