Headliner Material

I've removed my headliner because of sunroof issues. Since it was already stained and sagging, I might as well change it. Because of how stained mine is, I would like to get something that will not stain and is easier to clean. I was thinking of getting a perforated vinyl.

Something like

Let me know what you think...

RE: Headliner Material

Wow! I'm having a 60's flashback.

Seriously, though, I wouldn't bet on these not staining.

RE: Headliner Material

Alan,

Didn't you have yours redone several years ago? What did you use?

When taking it out, did you also have to bow the headliner in order to get it out?

The opposite.  I cut the roof off and installed a CampTop.  The remaining headliner, forward of the B-pillar is in sad shape and needs recovering. It is pretty easy to remove and recover, but I need to find a way to hold the loose part up against the carbon fiber camper floor.

It only looks good because of camera settings forced by the high contrast picture.  Plenty of stains from a leaky sunroof gasket.  Many parts of the fabric are just tucked in, not attached at all.

Re: Headliner Material

Griots Garage Interior Cleaner and a clean MF towel worked wonders on my stained headliner, eventually they do come back in about a year, especially if you still have the leak.

Alan, did you post a picture?

Re: Headliner Material

Try Folex and Simple Green for cleaning stained headliner material.

Mere lower level wizardry.  I use http://picr.de to host pictures and then link to them in the posting using the picture-of-a-tree tool.

Re: Headliner Material

I would use Alcantara or Tapis Ultrasuede for the headliner. It's very durable and easy to clean.

RE: Headliner Material

I ended up choosing a graphite color (instead of black). It matched well with the rest of the interior.

I continued to use the grey visor and handles. They make a good accent to the darker headliner.
