Brush guard mounts

I have a G500 with the fold down brush guard. Always wanted to get the larger brush guard so that I could still have the guard and upgrade the light bezels to accommodate led running lights just below them. I finally found one that is also a fold down version from a 2015 G550. When trying to slide the other one off and then put this new one on, the edges of the frame hit where the brackets are that tighten it to the bumper. So, any ideas of a fix to mount this on a factory bumper from 2003? Was there a different bracket to lock it into on the 2015? I cannot seem to find it and how to adapt this. Any advice would be very much appreciated.

Re: Brush guard mounts

I have done this as well.

I trimmed the original 2015 uprights to clear the mounts on the bumper for the original brush guard. You can use the original upright to template your cuts. I powder coated mine after the trimming and did the surround bars in black at the same time.

You can see how it turned out here

Re: Brush guard mounts

Maybe I overlooked this. I trimmed the inside portion of each upright but then the outside of each upright was touching the bracket still. When I looked at it, is appeared that I would need to cut all the way to where the tube below the headlight where it attaches at the bottom of the upright is. Did I just look at that incorrectly? Thanks again for all of your help.

Yes, the trim goes to just above the lower edge of the tube on the outside of the upright. You will still have more than enough material below the bolt hole. The plastic bushing on the round bar will be touching the bumper mount. But is not noticeable once it is painted and all mounted. I will try to get a better pic up soon.
