Leak after heavy rain

We had a pretty big monsoonal storm come through yesterday by which it rained about 2-3 inches in 2.5 hours. This was the test to see if I solved my water problems from when I first purchased. Apparently, water still accumulates in the door sill. I know it is not from the wipers (replaced),A/C evaporator drain(replaced), and windshield. I also replaced the door rubber seals.

I notice the drain holes in bottom of door. Is it common for water to come through the door window and drain into the bottom rubber/sill area and remain in the "gutter" untill it magically disappears in the form of metal flakes ?

How is the sill area stay dry?

Those of you veteran G owners....do you check for moisture in sills and under matting as part of a routine in winter time ?

Just a little frustrated today.
Thanks, Mike

RE: Leak after heavy rain

You replaced the door seals or the plastic sealing skin behind the door trim? it's the liner behind the door trim that caused me problems. And what makes it fun is that if it's not windy or you're not driving it wont leak at all. Only when water makes it in between the window and door seal in a certain way. That's what leaked on my, though a different interior style. I think i've posted at great length about it on BW so i'd search there. I gave pretty detailed instructions on how to trouble shoot and how to fix, and others chimed in as well. long story short is you may need to re-seal the skin behind the door paneling.

RE: Leak after heavy rain

Well, the foors are about the ONLY thing I havent taken apart. Now I will be complete. I will definetly check out the integrity of whatever I have, if anything, as far as a seal. I recall reading something awhile back using plastic from Home Depot or something.
Maybe I can make heads or tails when I take apart how the drain is suppose to work.
I know what I will be doing this weekend.

Re: Leak after heavy rain

I would never guess that rain would be a problem in Nevada! My 300 GD would never leak, but the 280 GE did. The seal around the wiper shafts was the culprit.

RE: Leak after heavy rain

Ed, the Reno area actually gets more precipitation in summer than winter. Once temperature gets into the mid-90's an afternoon shower and thunder/lightning is almost a given. FYI.

Didn't know that! We just had the first rain in six weeks here. Lots of wind with it this time. A person had a large tree limb hit his JEEP Cherokee and killed him. The rest of the passengers were unhurt.
