Brake pads?

We have been having flooding recently and as a result I have been stranded in the back end on no where. During the driving today I noticed that when I drove through heavy surface water and then put the breaks on he brakepad light came on. Why? Do I need new pads?, Is it the sensor?, or is it just what the car does in heavy surface water?

Thanks,

PS what can I expect to pay for pads?

No, it was on for about 5mins when I went through the first lot of water, and then the 2nd time about 20sec I guess, I drove the car to the mall just now and made a point of pumping the brakes and it did not come on.

Yea the car seems the same so it must be ok it is due for a service in 1000km so I will have them take a look at it when I get it serviced. Man the flooding was intense. My mate and I had to take the back roads to get home. That's when we ran into all the water out in the middle of the wilderness and then the light came on and I was like: "Uh O" funny now.

That must have been pretty scary. Luckily, it's a W140, so it can tough it out.

PS what can I expect to pay for pads?

Get them off Kevin at Startech or the guys at Race Brakes 0800BRAKES. Make sure you get pads for a Benz. I've known people to short cut with pads and the result is not good

Yea I will when I need them it seems that the pads on the front of these cars takes a real beating. The light is not on at the moment and the car drives and stops fine so I assume it is the water but I want to check with my mechanic first adn will do so in the morning. Good to see you arrived Photoman.
