sorry to dig up an old post here but reading this has me scared where i live i think i own 1 of maybe 4-5 s500 and evrywhere i go i get looks from people living in england we dont really have huge cars, but i must admit i am worried about parking it up anywhere as we have things called Chavs in our country (do a wikipedia) and my town is full of them i can see my car being a prime target, what also makes me laugh is that this car im riving cost me £2400 and people still look at it thinking its a £30-£40k car, i work in the motor industry for GM i sell Vauxhall car parts i get paid £21k a year so i am by no means rich im sure many of these Green Eyed people could afford what i rive if they took the time to look into it. The only problem is the Insurance and the crippling fuel costs here £80/$160 for a full tank of fuel.

yea, it is really horrible.

Unfortunately, someone keyed my rear trunk/boot the other day. I don't know when/where it happened, or who did it, but it looks pretty nasty. Really makes me sad. They made a long scratch, a long curvy scratch. What the heck, these cars aren't even that expensive. Most owners can barely live with the maintenance costs, and stupid people have to go out an ruin it for everyone. :angry:

Man, those are infuriating stories.. I am very selective about where I will drive/park my MB.

The 140 is possibly one of the more-intimidating looking models though. Might cause resentment just because it is so big and impressive. And yeah, no one knows they're not expensive, especially if you take good care of it.

I mean, you can buy an ugly 1980s RR for $15K and everyone will think you're rich, just b/c of the radiator grille.
Of course, then you have to figure out how to keep it running
